GROWING UP

Evelina Solís was born and raised by wonderful supportive parents, Ramon and Maria G. Rodríguez-Solís, in Hoopeston, Illinois and Defiance, Ohio and currently resides in New Braunfels, Texas. She is the middle of three children. She grew up with older brother, Ramon Jr., and younger brother, Taylor.  She was a first in her family to graduate from college and move away from home to pursue her aspirations.

CAREER IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Ms. Solís joined the staff at the University of Texas at Austin in the Office of the Dean of Students in 2006. She worked in Student Activities and Leadership Development in the Office of the Dean of Students as the Leadership and Ethics Institute Advisor, Outdoor Reservations Consultant, West Mall Marketplace Coordinator, Communications Team member, Social Justice Facilitator, and the Dean of Students’ Diversity Initiatives Committee among other special committees and projects. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism & Electronic Media and Spanish from Ohio Northern University. Solís also studied in Guanajuato, Mexico at the University of Guanajuato to gain a focus in Mexican Literature, History, and Spanish Grammar.

Previously, Evelina Solís served in roles as the Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment/Admissions Counselor at Ohio Northern University, Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs at The University of Miami, Associate Director of College Market Sales and Public Relations for Universal Digital Communications in Mansfield, Ohio.  She has 8 years of experience as a Higher Education Professional.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Evelina Solís is the Founder and President of Sol2Soul (MySol2Soul.com), an Academic/Life coaching and Inspirational Speaking resource. Previously, Solís also worked as a Television and Radio Personality, Photographer/Videographer, Sports Director, News Producer, Writer, Production Assistant, and Producer for WONB 94.9 FM Radio Station and Ohio Northern University’s Cable 3 TV station. Then she worked as a TV News and Production Assistant for WICD Newschannel 15 in Champaign, IL. She was also a featured writer for Ohio Northern University’s The Northern Review where she covered sports, entertainment, and spotlight stories.

MORE TELEVISION & RADIO EXPERIENCE

In 2001, Ms. Solís was selected to receive a prestigious and competitive fellowship from the International Radio and Television Society Foundation in New York City. She worked as a 2001 IRTS Summer Fellow for Westwood One Radio in the Artist Relations Department. Working at Westwood One opened many doors in the broadcasting industry that eventually led her to work at the 2001 Latin GRAMMYs Awards Show in Culver City, CA for Westwood One Radio, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation, and Yahoo.com as a Radio Producer. Her past media experiences paved the way for her to work the 2004 Presidential Debates, 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, 2005 Premios Juventud (Youth Awards Show for Latin America), 2007 Cesar Chavez Statue Unveiling at the University of Texas, and the 2008 Democratic Debates with Obama and Clinton. Ms. Solís now has 12 years experience in TV, radio, and print journalism interviewing many famous celebrities in places like Miami, NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other parts of the world. Some of the celebrities Evelina has had the opportunity to interview are Mohammad Ali, Paul McCartney, Dave Mathews Band, Aerosmith, Destiny’s Child, Method Man, Mena Suvari, Terry Bradshaw, Chris Spielman, JoDee Messina, Kenny Rogers, Suze Orman, Maria Bartolomo, The Clark Family Experience, James Spada, Juanes, Montel Williams, and many more.

The radio show programs were created for the purpose of sharing stories, ideas, and to inspire more faith, hope, and love in the world.  It is Evelina’s hope that her listeners will feel motivated to take a leap of faith and be encouraged to follow their dreams.  The shows’ discussion topics include, but not limited to: faith, lifestyle, health and wellness, statistics, relationship issues, day to day struggles, conflicts and challenges, personal views, the workplace, movies and music, fashion, influences, and interviews with inspirational heroes.

BOOK RELEASE

Evelina Solís was featured in the newly released book Aim High: Extraordinary Stories of Hispanic and Latina Women. It is a book that offers hope and inspiration to all walks of life. Author Laura Contreras-Rowe traveled the country last year meeting and interviewing inspirational and amazing Hispanic and Latina women. This book features 33 thought-provoking positive role models from all over the country and from different professional backgrounds to tell their story. LIFE COACH

In 2008, Evelina Solís became an Academic/Life Coach under the wing of Carol Carter, Founder and President of Lifebound, a national coaching and resource company. Ms. Carter is the author or co-author of 20 books on college, career, and life success. LifeBound’s student success programs are used in high schools throughout the country.

PRESENT & FUTURE ENDEAVORS

Evelina Solís is dedicated to the needs of the Latino/a community.  She has a passion for serving students from all walks of life, volunteering at Shoreline Church and charities, traveling the world, playing and watching sports, writing about her adventures, participating in the arts, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She takes every opportunity to promote diversity/social justice awareness and ethical servant leadership across the country through Inspirational Speaking and Academic/Life coaching. She has a special interest in Leadership Education & Latino/a History.

Recently, Evelina was selected as a Latina Life Coach for Macy’s National Hispanic Heritage Month Campaign for the Fall. Sol2Soul will be teaming up with Macy’s across the country for the “Looking Good, Feeling Good, Celebrating You!” Campaign.  She will encourage Latinos in America to embrace a positive attitude, healthy lifestyle and individuality!  Find out which selected Macy’s stores she will be speaking at by going to www.MySol2Soul.com.

Evelina sees herself working as an inspirational global educator and a student advocate for years to come. She plans to publish more inspirational books and articles, host positive TV and radio shows that will make a difference and change lives, teach a few courses, and continue her work as an educator in all mass mediums.
