From the Red Carpet to Death’s Doorstep…
In the fight of her life with health challenges and adversities, Evelina Solís found her true calling of being a voice for the voiceless and finding human moments to tell people’s truth through professional speaking engagements crisscrossing the nation and utilizing various multimedia platforms.

Evelina Solís is the Founder and President of Sol2Soul (MySol2Soul.com), a life coaching, consulting and inspirational speaking resource.

Previously, Solís worked in Higher Education for seven years as a Student Affairs professional developing and recruiting student leaders at Ohio Northern University, University of Miami and The University of Texas at Austin. Last year, she designed and implemented a middle school leadership program for Launchpad, The Center for Hope and Building Dreams (www.launchpadthecenter.org).

Solís has spent over a decade in the media industry holding various positions such as Television and Radio Personality, Director, Producer and Writer. Recently, Solís co-hosted Ujima TV with Damita and Evelina on Channel Austin & KBVO and co-hosted 501 News Latino radio show with J.R. Gonzales on KDRP FM 103.1 FM (www.kdrplive.org).

Evelina Solís’ story was featured in two books over the last two years. Aim High: Extraordinary Stories of Hispanic and Latina Women by Laura Contreras-Rowe came out in 2009. Most recently this fall, Live Free: Eliminate The If Onlys and What Ifs of Life was released by Kendra Smiley. Two years in a row, Solís teamed up with Macy’s and the American Heart Association as a Life Coach for the National Hispanic Heritage Month Campaign called “Live Well, Look Fantastic, and Feel Fabulous.”

Solís was awarded San Diego State University’s Associated Business Student Council Outstanding Speaker of the Year in 2010.

Most importantly, Evelina Solís is a dedicated wife and mother. She encourages everyone to live purposefully and fulfill her life motto, “Seek Your Passion, Feed Your Soul, Love Your Life!”

GROWING UP
Evelina Solís grew up in Hoopeston, Illinois and Defiance, Ohio and currently resides in Round Rock, Texas. She is the middle of three children. She was the first in her family to graduate from college and move away from home to pursue her aspirations.

CAREER IN HIGHER EDUCATION
In 2006, Solís joined the staff at the University of Texas at Austin in the Office of the Dean of Students. She worked in Student Activities and Leadership Development in the Office of the Dean of Students as the Leadership and Ethics Institute Advisor, Outdoor Reservations Consultant, West Mall Marketplace Coordinator, Communications Team member, Social Justice Facilitator, and the Dean of Students’ Diversity Initiatives Committee among other special committees and projects. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism & Electronic Media and Spanish from Ohio Northern University. Solís also studied in Guanajuato, Mexico at the University of Guanajuato to gain a focus in Mexican Literature, History, and Spanish Grammar.

Previously, Evelina Solís served in roles as the Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment/Admissions Counselor at Ohio Northern University, Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs at The University of Miami, Associate Director of College Market Sales and Public Relations for Universal Digital Communications in Mansfield, Ohio. She has 7 years of experience as a Higher Education Professional.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
Evelina Solís became the Founder and President of Sol2Soul (MySol2Soul.com), an Academic/Life coaching and Inspirational Speaking resource in 2008. Previously, Solís also worked as a Television and Radio Personality, Photographer/Videographer, Sports Director, News Producer, Writer, Production Assistant, and Producer for WONB 94.9 FM Radio Station and Ohio Northern University’s Cable 3 TV station. Then she worked as a TV News and Production Assistant for WICD Newschannel 15 in Champaign, IL. She was also a featured writer for Ohio Northern University’s The Northern Review where she covered sports, entertainment, and spotlight stories.

MORE TELEVISION & RADIO EXPERIENCE
In 2001, Ms. Solís was selected to receive a prestigious and competitive fellowship from the International Radio and Television Society Foundation in New York City. She worked as a 2001 IRTS Summer Fellow for Westwood One Radio in the Artist Relations Department. Working at Westwood One opened many doors in the broadcasting industry that eventually led her to work at the 2001 Latin GRAMMYs Awards Show in Culver City, CA for Westwood One Radio, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation, and Yahoo.com as a Radio Producer.

Her past media experiences paved the way for her to work the 2004 Presidential Debates, 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, 2005 Premios Juventud (Youth Awards Show for Latin America), 2007 Cesar Chavez Statue Unveiling at the University of Texas, and the 2008 Democratic Debates with Obama and Clinton. Ms. Solís now has 12 years experience in TV, radio, and print journalism interviewing many famous celebrities in places like Miami, NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other parts of the world. Some of the celebrities Evelina has had the opportunity to interview are Mohammad Ali, Paul McCartney, Dave Mathews Band, Aerosmith, Destiny’s Child, Method Man, Mena Suvari, Terry Bradshaw, Chris Spielman, JoDee Messina, Kenny Rogers, Suze Orman, Maria Bartolomo, The Clark Family Experience, James Spada, Juanes, Montel Williams, and many more.

Previously, Evelina hosted two radio show programs on Blog Talk Radio. One show was called “Unsung Heroes and Heroines” featuring positive Latino role models around the country on the Latinos Unidos Radio Channel (www.blogtalkradio.com/LatinosUnidos). In addition, she hosted the Sol2Soul Radio Show (www.blogtalkradio.com/Sol2Soul), which covered a variety of inspirational topics to get you through your week.

The radio show programs were created for the purpose of sharing stories, ideas, and to inspire more faith, hope, and love in the world. It was Evelina’s hope that her listeners will feel motivated to take a leap of faith and be encouraged to follow their dreams. The shows’ discussion topics include, but not limited to: faith, lifestyle, health and wellness, statistics, relationship issues, day to day struggles, conflicts and challenges, personal views, the workplace, movies and music, fashion, influences, and interviews with inspirational heroes.

Recently, Evelina co-hosted 501 News Latino Radio Show with J.R. Gonzales on KDRP 103.1 FM in Central Texas. It aired live on Fridays at 11 a.m. at www.kdrplive.org. 501 News Latino covers news of the day and hot topics from a Latino perspective and highlight role models in our community.

BOOK RELEASE
Evelina Solís was featured in the newly released book called Live Free: Eliminate the If Onlys and What Ifs in Your Life by Kendra Smiley. Live Free is for those who are not content with living lives ruled by “what ifs” and “if onlys”. This book is a collection of real-life stories and real-life women who faced real-life challenges and refused to let circumstances rob them of their joy, peace, and contentment.

In 2009, Evelina’s story was written by Laura Contreras-Rowe in Aim High: Extraordinary Stories of Hispanic and Latina Women. It is a book that offers hope and inspiration to all walks of life. This book features 33 thought-provoking positive role models from all over the country and from different professional backgrounds to tell their story. This book delivers a powerful message that despite financial challenges, family obligations and horrific environment or events: a young Hispanic or Latina woman can succeed to astounding heights with courage and tenacity. LIFE COACH
In 2008, Evelina Solís became an Academic/Life Coach under the wing of Carol Carter, Founder and President of Lifebound, a national coaching and resource company. Ms. Carter is the author or co-author of 20 books on college, career, and life success. LifeBound’s student success programs are used in high schools throughout the country.

PRESENT & FUTURE ENDEAVORS
Most Importantly, Evelina Solís is a dedicated wife and mother. She is actively involved in her community. She has a passion for serving students from all walks of life, volunteering at Freedom Church and The Lupus Foundation of America, traveling the world, playing and watching sports, writing about her adventures, participating in the arts, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She takes every opportunity to promote diversity/social justice awareness and ethical servant leadership across the country through Inspirational Speaking and Academic/Life coaching. She has a special interest in Leadership Education & Latino/a History.

Two years in a row, Evelina was selected as a Latina Life Coach for Macy’s National Hispanic Heritage Month Campaign for the Fall. Sol2Soul will be teaming up with Macy’s across the country for the “Live Well, Look Fantastic & Feel Fabulous” Campaign. She encouraged Latinos in America to embrace a positive attitude, healthy lifestyle and individuality!

Recently, Solís co-hosted Ujima TV with Damita and Evelina on ChannelAustin with host, Damita Miller-Shanklin, Publisher for Ujima Magazine. Evelina sees herself working as an inspirational global educator and a Lupus advocate for years to come. She plans to publish more inspirational books and articles, host positive TV and radio shows that will make a positive difference and change lives, teach a few courses, and continue her work as an educator in all mass mediums.
